ROOMS AND FACILITIES
Much of the living accommodation is new and all the rest has been modernised to meet regulatory standards. Single rooms are provided for all residents. Some have low windows so the garden can be enjoyed, even when in bed. All rooms have en-suite facilities, comprising of a toilet and basin as a minimum. Some bedrooms have patio doors leading to the garden. Call bells, television aerials and telephone points are provided in each room, and an information pack. We used the time during lockdowns to upgrade a number of our Residential rooms, updating their shower rooms etc.. and some communal areas, such as the Hairdressing salon, and communal sitting rooms. Pictures below.
Newly Refurbished Rooms, Salon and Café
There are a variety of comfortable relaxing communal areas throughout the Home that anyone can use. These offer televisions), music centre, DVDs, music CDs, books and magazines. We have also just refurbished one space to become the new Convent Café, where coffee, tea and light snacks are available.
The garden plays a big part in the lives of the residents. Many outside activities take place there including afternoon tea, barbecues, entertainment and games. There are pathways for wheelchairs, outdoor seating and all are welcome to help with the gardening, if they wish. Raised beds have been installed throughout the garden.
Very much a community, St. Mary’s is run in a way that makes people feel at home. We have our own cars for outings and there are regular weekly activities including arts and crafts, board games, indoor bowls, reading groups, music and movement and drinks parties.
Physiotherapy and hairdressing are available each week. A chiropodist visits regularly and a doctor comes weekly to see residents registered with the local practice. Residents may transfer to this practice or stay with their own doctor. An optician visits periodically for annual eye checks. We offer a complete laundry service.
