Community

At St Mary’s Convent & Nursing Home, we place great importance on maintaining strong links with our local community. We believe that connection, engagement, and shared experiences enhance residents’ wellbeing and enrich daily life.

We collaborate closely with local organizations, including St Nicholas’s Church, which organizes monthly lunches, and local primary and secondary schools, whose students visit for performances, activities, and work experience placements. Residents are welcome to attend daily services if they wish.

Our dedicated volunteers also play a vital role in community life. They assist with transporting residents to medical appointments, run the café in the mornings, help with games, board activities, and outings, and provide companionship and support where needed.

Residents are encouraged to participate in community events and educational, artistic, and recreational programmes. These activities foster social connections, intergenerational learning, and a sense of purpose and enjoyment.

Through these partnerships and programmes, residents remain engaged with the world around them while contributing to a vibrant, welcoming, and supportive community within St Mary’s.
