Chapel Services

The Chapel is at the heart of life at St Mary’s Convent & Nursing Home and offers a peaceful and prayerful space for residents, Sisters, families and visitors.

Regular services are held in the Chapel throughout the week, and everyone is warmly welcome to attend. The Chapel is accessible for wheelchair users.

Members of the local clergy celebrate the Eucharist for both the Sisters and residents at the following times:

  • 9.00am – Saturday
  • 10.00am – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

In addition, the following Offices are held each day:

  • 8.00am – Matins
  • 12.00 noon – Midday Office
  • 4.45pm – Vespers
  • After supper – Compline

A quiet half hour is also held each Thursday at 3.30pm.

Many members of the local clergy are also happy to visit individual residents for conversation, prayer or personal support if desired. Sister Jennifer is pleased to help arrange this. The Sisters are also available to offer pastoral care.

Arrangements can also be made for visits from clergy or other spiritual or cultural leaders for residents of other faiths. Where possible, residents may also attend other places of worship if suitable transport can be arranged.
