About St. Mary’s Convent

St. Mary’s Convent and Nursing Home in Chiswick has been looking after the most vulnerable members of society since 1910.

Who we are

For over 100 years, the Anglican Sisters of Saint Margaret have run St. Mary’s, providing care and accommodation in a warm, welcoming Christian family environment.

St. Mary’s has 60 single and couple rooms, independent living bungalows, comfortable sitting areas, and a beautiful garden with accessible paths. Sisters, staff, volunteers, and family pets create a friendly, homely community.

Located in Chiswick, the Home is close to London yet surrounded by green spaces, including Hogarth’s House, Chiswick House, the River Thames, and Dukes Meadows.

Our mission is to provide compassionate, high-quality care and support, where family, friends, and volunteers are always welcome.

Our Chapel

At the heart of St. Mary’s is our Chapel, a peaceful space open for quiet reflection at any time. Daily services are held, and all are welcome to attend. The Chapel is fully wheelchair accessible, and local clergy celebrate the Eucharist each day and are available to meet with residents, their families, or friends.

The Society of St. Margaret

The Sisters of St. Margaret are an Anglican Religious Order of women called to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ through worship, work, prayer, and community life. Their commitment is expressed through vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.

Founded by John Mason Neale in 1855, the Sisters live a balanced life of active work and contemplative prayer, with the Eucharist and daily prayer at the heart of their lives. The community welcomes anyone seeking to grow closer to God.

In addition to Chiswick, the Society has houses in Walsingham, Hackney, Sri Lanka, and the United States.

Our Rooms and Facilities

All residents have single rooms, many with low windows so the garden can be enjoyed even from bed. Some rooms have patio doors opening directly onto the garden.

Each room comes with en-suite facilities (toilet and basin at a minimum), call bells, TV aerials, WiFi, telephone points, and a welcome pack.

Our residential rooms and communal areas, including the hairdressing salon and sitting rooms, are upgraded periodically to ensure residents enjoy comfortable, modern, and welcoming surroundings.
